Meditations on fury

Aina Torres Reixach, poet and journalist, is coordinating the IX Jornades Marçalianes "Meditacions sobre la fúria", organized by the Fundació Maria-Mercè Marçal in collaboration with ADHUC and the CCCB, among others. The title of this edition comes from the book Sota el signe del drac, in which Marçal states: "Women writers, on the other hand, like everyone born within an oppressed culture, have been compelled to choose, to make an effort, to face the challenge of recovering, to invent ourselves, to create another memory, another tradition. / I wonder: can the fury of women become creative?”

Drawing on Maria-Mercè Marçal's text Meditacions sobre la fúria, different writers and artists celebrate the legacy of Maria-Mercè Marçal in an event dedicated to exploring the influence of fury in the writer's work and thought. Speakers include, among others, Maria Rodó de Zárate (Universitat Pompeu Fabra), Júlia Ojeda (UOC), and the poet Neus Aguado will take part. The event features performances by visual artist Francesca Llopis Planas and singer Gemma Humet Alsius.
