The Roma community is defined by its transterritoriality and also by the gaze of the other, which interprets it according to reductive and stereotyped parameters. The research seminar "(Auto)representaciones simbólicas de la comunidad gitana" aims at establishing a first critical approach to the images and discourses about this community in order to analyze the new visions of it that these offer, which are hybrid and sexualized. The participants will be, amongst others, Éric Fassin (Université Paris 8), Nieves Ibeas (Universidad de Zaragoza), Marta Segarra (CNRS / Universitat de Barcelona), David Lagunas (Universidad de Sevilla), Rodrigo Andrés and Elisenda Giner (Universitat de Barcelona), together with other people who are part of the research project "New Views on the Community / New Hybrid and Sexualized Roma Identities", which draws on the project "Literature and Communities: A Gendered Approach". Attendance is free. Registration: cdona@ub.edu
