Affect Theory: Cinema, Popular Culture, and Poetry
The Purpose of the Seminar "Teoria dels afectes: cinema, cultura popular i poesia", coordinated by Katarzyna Paszkiewicz (ADHUC-Universitat de les Illes Balears), Margalida Pons (LiCETC-Universitat de les Illes Balears) and Helena González Fernández (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona) is to explore, interdisciplinarily, the teoretical referents, the applications and the points of both convergence and divergence among three research projects linked to Universitat de les Illes Balears and to Universitat de Barcelona, which share their affective approach. The sessions with be hosted by Rosa María Medina Doménech (Universidad de Granada) and Cecilia Macón (Universidad de Buenos Aires). The scientific interventions will include, among others, Isabel Clúa (ADHUC-Universidad de Sevilla); Andrea Ruthven (ADHUC -Universitat de les Illes Balears); Caterina Calafat and Marta Puxan (LiCETC-Universitat de les Illes Balears); Libe García Zarranz (Norwegian University of Science and Technology); and Katarzyna Moszczyńska-Dürst (Uniwersytet de Warszawski).
This activity is one of the results of the research projects “Cinema and Environment: Affective Ecologies in the Anthropocene”, “Trànsfugues i pàries modernes: gènere i exclusió a la cultura popular del segle XXI” and “La poesia catalana contemporània des de la perspectiva dels estudis afectius”, and it explores the transformative capacity of affects in the construction, interpretation and dissemination of poetic sense. Besides sharing these points of inquiry with the general public and the research community, this seminar aims at inspiring young scholars at early stages of their reseach career.
