Youssef El Maimouni converses with Itzea Goikolea Amiano

Youssef El Maimouni, author of Cuando los montes caminen, will have a conversation about his book with Itzea Goikolea Amiano (Institut Milà i Fontanals, IMF-CSIC). This historical novel delves into the motivation that leads a young man from the Tetouan area to enlist in Franco's troops with the promise of good wages and land at the end of the war. The young soldier soon discovers, however, that the civil war is a military war against civilians and that the Moorish troops will not receive the promised pay and that, on the contrary, they will be detained and forced to work with Republican prisoners.
