Cuerpos de escándalo, a Madrid

Isabel Clúa, researcher at Centre de recerca ADHUC – Universidad de Sevilla, is presenting her volume Cuerpos de escándalo. Celebridad femenina en el fin-de-siècle in the congress "Identidades a escena [II]: Canción y baile en la república", which will be held at Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid. The book, published recently as part of the series "Mujeres y Culturas", analyzes how the vedettes who lived in the turn-of-the-century Spain benefited from their presence in the public sphere in order to subvert nineteenth-century stereotypes about femininity.
