Evanthia Tsantini
PAS Suport Tècnic a la recercaI hold a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts and Conservation/Restoration of Cultural Heritage and a PhD degree in History. I am an experienced researcher with multi and interdisciplinary training, reinforced by pre and post-doctoral international research experience, related to arts and archaeology, archaeometry and provenance, material, chemical, geological and earth sciences and, finally, engineering. The most relevant scientific fields: study and generation of the first and only archaeometrical database on Iberian amphora and common wares; functional adequacy of pottery in archaeological and archaeometrical studies by studying the mechanical properties; ethnoarchaeology and ethnoarchaeometry of Sardinian pottery and construction materials; study and prospection of raw materials. Clayey and ceramic building materials and green mortars compositional and functional studies, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary characterization of wall paintings and identification of pigments' origin by isotope measuring (ICP-MS). I am specialized in several research approaches and methodologies. I have characterised pottery from the Neolithic to the Islamic period including: Neolithic coarse wares, Iberian amphorae and common wares, Roman amphora, Roman and Late Roman common, coarse and fine wares, medieval and Islamic common and fine wares in the West Mediterranean and from the Hellenistic to the Kushan-Sassanian pottery in Central Asia. Lately, I was involved in studies related to black gloss Campanian Pottery from Sicily, as well, in raw material studies. I have carried out full technological and material studies on Roman to Early Byzantine wall paintings and mortars in Spain also characterised the pigments of wall paintings from Kampir-Tepe (Uzbekistan). I was involved in ceramic ethnoarchaeological and ethnoarchaeometrical work in Sardinia and Spain and I also have characterised building materials. I also have a wide experience in restoration and conservation of cultural heritage.
