Hem realitzat un estudi genètic en una cohort de malalts d’esclerosi lateral amiotròfica (ELA) i vam trobar una associació entre dos polimorfismes del gen CX3CR1, expressat a la micròglia, i l´índex de progressió de la malaltia.
Recentment hem demostrat que la micròglia expressa el canal de calci depenent de voltatge de tipus L i que aquest canal participa en el control de la secreció microglial de citocines en condicions de neuroinflammació.
També hem trobat que l’efecte antiinflamatori del diazoxido potencia els processos de neurogènesi a la lesió excitotòxica en el hipocamp de la rata. Això indica que l’activació del canal KATP microglial és important en la regulació de la neurogènesi induïda per una lesió cerebral.
