The Neuropsychology Group was
constituted in 1994 after being formally recognized by the University of Barcelona. In 1995, the Generalitat de Catalunya recognized it as a
consolidated research group, a recognition that has been renewed in all subsequent resolutions.
With an interdisciplinary character, the group is composed of psychologists, radiologists,
physicists and engineers, many of whom are professors of the University of Barcelona. Most of the members are part of the Institute of
Neurosciences (UBNeuro).
Some group members are also members of the Institut
d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), in the area of Clinical and
Experimental Neurosciences. A subgroup is also part of the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red sobre Enfermedades Neurodegenerativas
(CIBERNED). Research activity focuses on the study of the relationship between brain lesions or
dysfunctions and cognitive or behavioral alterations. To carry out these investigations, functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging
techniques are the main approaches used.
