Òscar Gratacós Torrà
Researcher at the Universitat de Barcelona, Lecturer, and Secretary of the Geomodels Research Institute
Òscar Gratacós graduated from University of Barcelona in 1999 with a B.Sc. degree in Geology. He finished his PhD with honors at the University of Barcelona in 2004. His PhD was focused on numerical modelling of geological processes, specifically developing a code for a 3D subaqueous clastic transport and sedimentation and its interaction with carbonate producing organisms. Since then, he has been working at the UB as a researcher at the Geomodels Research Institute, and assistant lecturer in 3D modelling and structural geology for graduate and undergraduate students. Since 2008, he is the secretary of the GEOMODELS Research Institute.
His current research interest include: numerical modelling of geological processes (kinematic, mechanical and sedimentary processes); 3D/4D geological models (construction and developing different tools); Virtual Outcrop Models (analysis and extraction of geological properties); and analogue modeling.
Then, his research lines are focused mainly in:
-
✓Forward numerical modelling of clastic sediment transport and sedimentation and its interaction with carbonate producing organisms.
-
✓3D geological structural modelling: its construction and the development of new computer tools that helps its construction.
-
✓Structural Geology
