With
the aim of gathering a group of European specialists and share
their opinions with those of IVETTE participants, the University
of Barcelona is organising this Workshop. We are interested
in the transformations that traditional Higher Education institutions
need to undertake in the near future in order to adapt themselves
to the lifelong learning paradigm. These changes do need a
holistic view and should take into consideration the areas
IVETTE is proposing for further discussion. The Workshop will
also be able to provide policy recommendations to the European
Commission.
We
have asked 20 European specialists in this area to present
their views on the three main issues studied in the project:
-
institutional/organisational problems
- teaching and learning approaches
- multi-cultural and multi-lingual issues
The objectives of the workshop are:
-
To valorise and synthesise results of specific TSER projects
and projects with a socio-economic research dimension of the
Educational Multimedia Task Force projects tackling issues
related to VLE.
- To build an European conceptualisation and understanding
of Virtual Learning Environments based on how are they implemented
across different contexts.
- To draw on top class and leading-edge European expertise
in order to examine the relationships between institutional,
teaching and learning and multi-cultural and multi-lingual
issues in Virtual Learning Environments (VLE).
- To validate the results of the studies undertaken in the
Thematic Network IVETTE.
