XVII International Conference on Political Philosophy

Social control and surveillance of citizens

The Research Group "Crisis of Practical Reason" of the University of Barcelona and the Organizing Committee invite all researchers in the area of Social Sciences and Humanities to send their communications proposals to the XVII International Conference on Political Philosophy.

EThis year's meeting will be devoted to Social Control and Surveillance of Citizens and will include contributions focusing on any of its multiple dimensions in the cultural, social and political fields. This will cover, but will not be limited to: the discomforts caused by the interference in private life of state and corporate institutions; the clash between different forms of political action and citizen activity; the state of fundamental freedoms and the new spaces for community interaction; critiques of current theoretical frameworks and dominant modes of thought; proposals for new approaches; the understanding of the historical processes associated with the subject; the impact on subjectivities and identities; and the consequences derived from the most recent technological transformations.

Interested authors should send an abstract in Spanish, English or Catalan (.PDF format) with a length of five hundred to one thousand words through the link at the end of this call, accompanied by a bibliographical section and five keywords. The proposals will be reviewed by two members of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, following a double-blind system. In case of discrepancies, it will be reviewed by a third evaluator. The deadline for submission is November 30, 2021. The results will be announced within 15 days of submission or, at the latest, by December 15, 2021.

The selected participants will be able to apply for a two-day scholarship to cover they stay in Barcelona during the congress sessions (limited capacity) and the final version of their papers will receive an invitation to be published in the scientific journalAstrolabio.
