On January 10, WELLCARE researchers held an event open to stakeholders in the framework of the 9th World Congress of the International Microsimulation Association (IMA Conference). The event was dedicated to early childhood and long-term care policies and preliminar results of the public consultation were presented.
Presentations
The event had four presentations. First, Ció Patxot (UB), the project coordinator, briefly presented the results received to the public consultation launched in 2023 which was followed by an analysis of comparable data sets from the European Union carried out to characterize the main factors driving the Care Economy in selected countries. Ulrike Famira-Mühlberger (WIFO) examined the different care systems of Austria, Spain and England and the extent to which institutions and policies influence the size and composition of caregiving groups in society, particularly concerning the mix between formal and informal care. Next, the microWELT platform and its application for care projections with a case-study for Austria and the open-source microsimulation model for life course analysis, SimPaths, were presented by the WIFO and University of ESSEX team, respectively.
