The grant program ICREA Academia 2020 has awarded five experts of the UB in a call that selected about thirty researchers from different knowledge fields framed within the Catalan university system.

The grant program ICREA Academia 2020 has awarded five experts of the UB in a call that selected about thirty researchers from different knowledge fields framed within the Catalan university system.

These grants, that reach their twelfth edition, are an initiative to contribute to hold the research talent in Catalonia. Given by the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA), these award the research career of the teaching staff members that carry out their activities in some of the Catalan public universities.

The thirty lecturers that were chosen in this call -18 men and 12 women- will receive 40,000 euros per year for five years. This support line is exclusively aimed at university lecturers who are giving lessons and their research task is fully active. Since its creation, the ICREA Academia program has awarded aids to a total of 274 members of the teaching staff of Catalan universities.

 

The awarded researchers are:

 

Sergi Munné-Bosch, professor at the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences of the Faculty of Biology and member of the Biodiversity Research Institute of the UB (IRBio).

Marián Boguñá, professor at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics of the Faculty of Physics and member of the Institute of Complex Systems of the UB (UBICS).

Núria Fagella, professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and member of the Institute of Mathematics of the UB (IMUB).

Iñigo González, tenure-track 2 lecturer at the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy of the UB and member of the Barcelona Institute of Analytical Philosophy (BIAP)

Carles Escera, professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology of the Faculty of Psychology and member of the Institute of Neurosciences (UBNeuro) of the UB.
