Interview with Dr. Fernando Albericio, professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona (UB) regarding a new methodology for the synthesis of Pipecolidepsin A, protein obtained from the marine sponge Homophymia lamellosa shown effective against tumor cells from eleven types of cancer in in vitro conditions.
This project has been developed at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) along with the spanish company Pharma Mar with the final goal of reducing the time and cost of production and obtain a larger quantity of product in order to begin pre-clinical trial.
