Primeres matèries i ús de la terra a l'arc nord de la Mediterrània durant el Musteriense, Protoauriñaciense i Gravetià en Riparo Mochi (Balzi Rossi, Itàlia)

La relació entre el conjunt lític i formacions geològiques no és suficient per reconèixer els patrons de mobilitat d'un grup humà, encara que investigacions anteriors van posar en relleu la connexió entre la qualitat disponibilitat de matèria primera i les estratègies de mobilitat. "Contractació incrustats" com, per exemple, "la contractació específica", o "canvi" - En aquest sentit, les característiques tècniques d'un conjunt lític poden proporcionar algunes pistes per il·lustrar estratègies. Per tant, en lloc de centrar-se en les distàncies descalços entre el lloc i les àrees que proveeixen, podria ser interessant per a assumir un punt de vista més ampli, per tal de (tenint en compte aspectes tècnics i matèries primeres) intenti tornar a calibrar l'escala d'anàlisi d'una caçadors-recol·lectors en lloc de prospectiva des del lloc estrictament arqueològic. Des d'aquesta perspectiva es comparen tres conjunts lítics procedents del Musteriense, Proto-Aurinyacià i capes Noaillian Gravetià del lloc Riparo Mochi (coves Grimaldi, àrea de Balzi Rossi, Ligúria), una de les seqüències estratigràfiques més complets del Paleolític Mitjà i Superior a l'Europa mediterrània.

Raw material procurement and land use in the northern Mediterranean arc during the Mousterian, Protoaurignacian and Gravettian at Riparo Mochi (Balzi Rossi, Italy)

The relation between lithic assemblage and geological formations is not enough to recognize the mobility patterns of a human group although previous researches highlighted the connection between the availability-quality of raw material and the mobility strategies. In this regard, technical features of a lithic assemblage can provide some clues to illustrate strategies - such as, for instance, "embedded procurement", "specific procurement", or "exchange". Therefore, instead of focusing on the bare distances between the site and the supplying areas, it could be interesting to assume a larger point of view in order to (while taking into account technical aspects and raw materials) try to recalibrate the analysis scale from a hunter-gatherer prospective rather than from the strictly archaeological site. From this perspective we compare three lithic assemblages coming from the Mousterian, Proto-Aurignacian, and Noaillian Gravettian layers of the Riparo Mochi site (Grimaldi caves, Balzi Rossi area, Liguria), one of the most complete stratigraphic sequences of the Middle and Upper Palaeolithic in Mediterranean Europe.
