Welcome session of the ICO-WHO Symposia on Tobacco Control at the “Pau Viladiu” Auditorium. Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) on December 2nd, 2022.

Soriano, Hospital La Princesa, Autonomous University of Madrid, CIBER Respiratory Diseases, Spain and with the participation of Manel Balcells, Ministry of Health, Government of Catalonia; Ramon Salazar, Director General, Catalan Institute of Oncology; Angela Ciobanu, Officer, WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of NCDs; Lilia Olefir, Director, Smoke Free Partnership. 

Current discussions within the tobacco control and the public health communities have recently started to focus less on controlling the tobacco epidemic and more on ending it. This 6th edition of the ICO-WHO Symposium will include three sessions devoted to the state of implementation of global policies, how they are shifting to tobacco endgame, and how we are building capacity for research and advocacy for it. Moreover, the Symposium will include the worldwide release of the 2022 ranking of the Tobacco Control Scale.
