Intergenerational income redistribution (NTA & NTTA)
WP Leader
UL
WP2 aims to measure and analyse changes in the intergenerational distribution and redistribution of income in European countries over time.
A set of indicators will be constructed to evaluate the impact of changing age structure on the three resource allocation mechanisms reflected in NTA-NTTA. This will serve as a benchmark for the micro based indicators developed in WP3 projecting the impact of ageing. A comparable EU dataset (HETUS 2010), the European National Time Transfer Accounts (NTTA) will be constructed by sex. HETUS 2000 extension will permit analyse the changes in NTTA observed during the decade 2000 to 2010: spanning the end of the dot-com bubble and the 2008 global financial crisis.
Associated analysis will capture changes in time spent on various unpaid production activities between men and women and across countries over time. Further, a regional NTA-NTTA will be constructed for France, to explore sensitivity of national aggregate statistics to regional decompositions.
Tasks
- Construction of European National Transfer Accounts (NTA) by sex for the period 2008-2020.
- Use comparable EU data to construct European National Time Transfer Accounts (NTTA) by sex, from HETUS 2010.
- Historical country specific NTA data.
- Construct regional NTA for France.
- Build sustainability indicators and Generational Wealth Accounts (GWA).
Research Outputs
- Datasets NTA-NTTA European Time series 2008-2020 (plus historical and regional data for selected countries)
- Standardized indicators of public and private sector sustainability -with flexible age limits – and intergenerational redistribution.
- Reports on data gaps to construct the lifecycle
