The Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) is a Humanities and Social Sciences research center at the University of Navarra. We advance projects of an interdisciplinary nature that are inspired by Christian thought with the aim of understanding the human person and of responding to society’s global challenges. The Mind-Brain Group studies subjectivity through cooperation between biology – in particular neuroscience – and contemporary philosophy and adopts as its central topic the study of action and its relation to cognition and the agent’s identity. On the occasion of the questions raised by neuroscience, the aim is to establish a dialogue between the various traditions of contemporary philosophical thought (phenomenology, analytical philosophy, Aristotelianism, philosophical anthropology, etc.) which, stimulated by the realism of science, overcomes the relativistic or sceptical temptations that beset them and aims to integrate the advances of biology into a sapiential vision of man.
