Women philosophical production is its central theme of analysis. The objectives set to be accomplished are the following:

  • To recover, study and spread texts in which the philosophical production of women from Antiquity up until our days is manifest
  • To critically examine the presuppositions in philosophical hermeneutics
  • To participate in contemporary debate on feminist theory, as well as to contribute to the debate about the role that the difference between the sexes has played in philosophical discourse

More than two decades of research have resulted in many and diverse findings, amongst which we are proud to be able to include an unprecedented cartography of the conceptual, theoretical and biographical networks that link the thought and the lives of the women we have studied. The discovery of such a group of relationships has allowed us to think their work in relation to a paradoxical hidden tradition in feminine thought.

Our conviction that it is in the company of these women that we are able to understand and think our present and repair some theoretical gaps in the dominating discourse is what pushes us to keep widening this cartography, digging deeper into our line of interpretation. This long-lasting conviction, together with all the work done on the thought of women has earned the Filosofia i Gènere Seminar national and international recognition.
