PhD in Philosophy
Pau Matheu Ribera is Doctor in Philosophy by the University of Barcelona (2021) with a thesis on the evolution of Simone Weil’s political thought.
He has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona (2015) and has completed a Master’s Degree in Secondary School Teaching at the same university (2016). His Master’s dissertation, “Una comunitat de recerca dialògica per l’assignatura Cultura i Valors ètics de 4t d’ESO”, in which he analyses the relationships between the Philosophy 3/18 education project and the thought of Paulo Freire, Simone Weil and Plato, was published by the University of Barcelona (10th January 2017).
He was awarded the grants FI (2017) and FPU (2018) to pursure his doctoral thesis. He has published several reviews and the results of his research as papers for the journals Oxímora. Revista internacional de ética y política (2017), Lectora. Revista de dones i textualitat (2018), Aurora. Papeles del “Seminario María Zambrano” (2019) and Cahiers Simone Weil (2021, 2022). He has also presented papers at various scientific congresses.
He has attended numerous colloquia on Simone Weil organized in France by the Association pour l’étude de la pensée de Simone Weil and he presented parts of the results of his research in the 2021 edition in Angers. During the months of March, April and May, 2019, he carried out a research stay in Paris under the direction of Marta Segarra (CNRS).
He has translated Simone Weil’s La gravetat i la gràcia into Catalan, edited by Fragmenta (2021).
His research was undertaken in the framework of the project TRAFILO (Transmission in Feminine Philosophical Thought) and the project VULFIL (The Vulnerability in Women’s Philosophical Thought. Contributions to the Debate around Present Emergencies). He is a researcher at the Philosophy and Gender Seminar at the University of Barcelona.
