Retired Latin professor of the University of Barcelona
Mercè Otero Vidal graduated in Philosophy and Arts (Classic and Romanic-Hispanic Philology) at the University of Barcelona. She is a retired university professor of Latin. Other than her university-related teaching, she also organizes and teaches workshops on education and advices schools on coeducation and innovation. Within the framework of the Filosofia i Gènere Seminar and the Dones i Literatura Seminar of the University of Barcelona, she has collaborated, and still does, in several conferences and research groups.
As a feminist activist, she holds a coordinating position at the Centre de Documentació de Ca La Dona and in the organization of the Escola Feminista d’Estiu of the Xarxa Feminista. She has published articles and material on coeducation and gynecocritcism (literary, historical and philosophical criticism). She has also translated Duoda, Christine de Pizan, Marie de Gournay, Gilles Ménage and others. Her current research lines focus on coeducation, memory and identities. She is a member of the Women Council of Barcelona, the LGTBI National Council of Catalonia and the Catalan Language Social Council.
