Praxis of Difference. Thought, Action and Writing in Françoise Collin

The Filosofia i Gènere—ADHUC Seminar holds the 28th Thesis Laboratory. In this new session, PhD candidate Teresa Hoogeveen (Seminari Filosofia i Gènere—ADHUC, University of Barcelona) will present her research on her dissertation project, Praxis of Difference. Thought, Action and Writing in Françoise Collin, under the supervision of Fina Birulés and Carmen Revilla (both Seminari Filosofia i Gènere—ADHUC, Universitat de Barcelona). Hoogeveen proposes an itinerary through the Belgian philosopher’s work in order to understand the problem she thematized in the essay “Praxis de la différence. Notes sur le tragique du sujet” (1992). In it, Collin defines the difference between the sexes as praxis, as a fact irreducible to theory. Hoogeveen first poses the question on the difference between the sexes to then expound on three key aspects of Collin’s proposal: praxis, difference and the problem of representation.
