Manufacturing of Clinical Batches under GMPs

UB-FARMATEC is a pilot plant located on the Bellvitge University Campus, equipped with the necessary facilities and infrastructure to meet the research and production needs for clinical trial batches, small batches of medicines and pharmaceutical products. It offers technical, scientific, research, development, and manufacturing services for human and veterinary medicines, other pharmaceutical products, and medical devices. These services are available to the pharmaceutical industry and related sectors, other research groups or centers, healthcare institutions, and, in general, society.

The purpose and objectives of UB-FARMATEC are:

The establishment and management of a pilot plant for conducting basic and applied research tasks, as well as for the manufacturing and production of medicines and pharmaceutical products, in compliance with the regulations set forth by health legislation (Good Manufacturing Practices - GMP - and any other applicable regulations) for clinical trials and small batches
To promote all actions that enhance the efficiency of UB's innovative and research efforts, as well as its interaction with research groups, companies, and institutions
The creation of an environment to enhance innovation activities and the transfer of technology and knowledge in the field of pharmaceutical technology
The promotion of the dissemination of university research results to society and the generation of value
The promotion, in collaboration with other stakeholders, of an entrepreneurial culture within the UB community
To foster quality in all processes and to ensure the development and innovation that are carried out
To contribute, through pharmaceutical technological advancement and innovation, to improving the competitiveness of companies and the development of Catalonia
To contribute, through research in pharmaceutical technology, technological advancement, and innovation, to the improvement and well-being of society and individuals
To strengthen the relationship between the University, the Health Administration, and the private sector with the common goal of improving public health through the research, development, and innovation of therapeutic treatments for diseases
To strengthen the relationship between the University and the national health system, fostering collaboration in research, innovation, and service provision in the field of pharmaceutics, particularly in the manufacturing of medicines and pharmaceutical products
