Summer School on Economics of Education to gather 25 participants from 14 different countries
The 2017 Summer School ‘The Economics of Education: Analysing the Effects of Programmes and Policies’ hosted by the Universitat de Barcelona School of Economics will gather 25 participants from 14 different countries from July 3rd to 7th. Attendees are a mix of academics, professionals and graduate students, who share an interest in educational programmes and policies. The fourth edition of the Summer School also enjoys a wide geographic distribution of participants. There is an important presence of European countries, including France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Other participants come from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and South Africa.
Participants will examine aspects such as human capital investment decision, school autonomy and large-scale international assessments. Lecturers include guest scholar from London School of Economics (LSE) and University of Surrey Sandra McNally and UB’s lecturer at the Department of Economics and researcher at the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) Álvaro Choi. The Summer School aims at providing students with a set of tools to address current challenges in the area of the analysis and evaluation of different elements of the educational system. These tools cover both theoretical and methodological issues at the knowledge frontier of this field of study.
