Open call for papers for the IX Workshop on Economics of Education
The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) at the UB School of Economics welcomes the submission of papers for presentation at the IX Workshop on Economics of Education, due to take place in Barcelona on September 13th-14th. The aim of this workshop is to establish and share the theoretical and methodological knowledge frontier of economics of education and to access a diversity of applied studies in which different methodologies are used.
The accepted papers (10) will be presented in plenary sessions that will complement the two keynote speakers’ presentations by Stephen Machin (London School of Economics, Centre for Economics Performance) and Peter Dolton (University of Sussex & National Institute of Economic and Social Research).
Both macro and micro-economic topics are of interest. The Workshop especially welcomes research that applies advanced econometric techniques. Although it focuses on empirical papers, theoretical studies are also welcome. The deadline for the submission of papers is June 9th, 2018.
Topics of interest include Policy Evaluation, Disabilities, Lifelong learning, PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS, PIAAC, Social Media, Education inequalities, Gender, Training, School Autonomy & Leadership, University Financing & Access, Labor market, Competence acquisition, Non-monetary benefits, Teacher’s quality and Company training.
The IEB will host another event on Economics of Education before the IX Workshop on Economics of Education. The XXVII Meeting of the Economics of Education Association, organised by the Association of Education Economics (AEDE), will take place in Barcelona on 28th-29th June 2018. Professors Lorraine Dearden (University College London) and Kristof de Witte (KU Leuven) will be the keynote speakers of the meeting.
