Deadline for Milan-Barcelona 2017 Summer School on “Attractive Cities” approaching
The Summer School “Attractive Cities: Successes and Conflicts” co-hosted by the University of Milano-Bicocca and the University of Barcelona will improve participants’ knowledge in the field of urban attractions. These will be analysed form different perspectives, concerning different types of urban populations and services, policy models and governance structure. The course will be held in Milan (1st week) and Barcelona (2nd week) from July 10th to 21st, 2017.
Topics include metropolitan populations living, consuming and working in the cities; mobility systems and accessibility to urban opportunities in contemporary cities; local resources utilised to develop touristic and job attractions; public policies oriented to improve attraction; governance and participation models as tools for improving attractions; urban rhythm and night attractiveness; walkability and urban environment; and environmental quality as an urban attractiveness.
The Summer School “Attractive Cities: Successes and Conflicts” welcomes students from different backgrounds, including sociology, anthropology, geography, urban planning, urban design, and architecture, as well as practitioners and policy-makers. It is open to students as well as to policy makers working in the field of the city marketing. The final goal of the summer school is to improve the capacity of students to cooperate with private and public agencies in order to promote city attractions.
