Call for Expressions of Interest: Postdoctoral Researchers in the ERC Advanced Project WomEmpower

The ERC-funded project WomEmpower: The Causal Effect of Motherhood, Gender Norms, and Cash Transfers to Women on Intimate Partner Violence, led by Professor Núria Rodríguez-Planas, is seeking up to two postdoctoral researchers to join its team. This exciting opportunity is based in the Department of Economics at the University of Barcelona and offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge research in applied economics, with a focus on domestic violence, labor and health economics, and social norms. 

Position Details 

• Start Date: September 2025 (earliest). 

• Duration: 1 year, with the possibility of extension to 3 years based on performance. 

• Salary: €43,000 (gross annual salary, pre-tax). Total employer cost is €60,000. 

• Benefits: Paid leave, social insurance (healthcare included), flexible working hours, and funds for research-related activities. 

• Teaching Duties: None.

 

Requirements 

• PhD in Economics or related field (completed by the start of the position). 

• Strong research record in quantitative methods, especially in applied econometrics, labor or health economics, or behavioral decisions. 

• Programming skills (e.g., R, Stata, Julia, Python). 

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and responsible attitude. 

• Fluent English (Spanish or Catalan not required). 

 

Your Role
The successful applicants will work closely with Professor Rodríguez-Planas and the WomEmpower team, which includes leading experts in Economics of Crime, Health and Labor Economics, and Political Economy. They will contribute to high-impact research and have access to resources for collecting and analyzing large datasets.
