June 2019: Marta Gómez-Puig is the new member-elect of the Technical Advisory Committee of the IBEX-35, which is the main Spanish Stock Index indicator.

Prof. Gómez-Puig was selected due to her vast experience in research of financial markets and her high quality publications. The Technical Advisory Committee is responsible for the Indexes and consists of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 9 members. In the event that their number is even, the President will have a deciding vote.

Their functions are:

  • (1) to supervise that the calculation of the Indexes is carried out by the Manager in accordance with these Technical Rules for the Composition and Calculation of the Indexes of Sociedad de Bolsas in force at each moment,
  • (2) to guarantee, where appropriate, the proper functioning of the Indexes for use as an underlying in the trading of derivative products,
  • (3) To study and approve, when it deems appropriate and in a period never exceeding 6 months, the redefinitions of the Indexes.
  • And (4) to report any modification referring to point 3, of these Technical Standards for Calculation of the Indices.

The appointment of the members of the Technical Advisory Committee and its President and the establishment of its operating regime corresponds to the Board of Directors of Sociedad de Bolsas, S.A.
