University of Barcelona has published a video and press note regarding the importance of the broad network of healthcare institutions that hosts every year more than 3,000 UB students from different degrees

Entitled “Life lessons at the hospital”, Psychology degree is presented with the testimony of Wen Yi Miró, a student of Psychology in our faculty.

She conducted varied practical experiences at the Fundació Sanitària Mollet: “I have been around the Hospital in Mollet, where I have worked in the Adult Mental Health Centre, the Attention and Monitoring Centre for Drug Addictions and the Community Rehabilitation Service, as well as the Socio-sanitary Hospital and the residence for people with disabilities La Vinyota”. “These placements made me have a broader view of this profession, in addition to showing the skills of psychological assessment developed over the studies”, says Miró.

This experience is possible because there is a team of teaching staff and health professionals supervising students. In this regard, Ventura Fornas, tutor of Psychology training students, emphasises the “presentation, documentation and reception” given to these students. “First of all, we have a reception, because we think it is essential to give them context in the reality of care. Then, during the internship months we undergo a monitoring, and then we have a closing session in which they present their experiences”, says Fornas, lecturer at the UB and a reference in psychology teaching at the Health Park Sant Joan de Déu.
