Detail
New course of Neuropsychological Assistance
The course is open for all professionals working with awake brain surgery candidates - (neuro)psychologists, (speech) therapists, neurosurgeons, nurses, and any other health professional who might be interested in joining us for our 3-day long hands-on workshop (November 22-24, 2023).
During day 1 we will learn how to evaluate brain mapping candidates before, during, and after surgery using "gold-standard" and individually-tailored methods, we will understand the role of psychologists and therapists in the process, and we will review the most recent literature in this regard. All this in a dynamic and interactive hands-on format. During day 2, we will embed the role of the psychologist/therapist in the big picture of the neurosurgical team in a theory panel. On the last, 3rd day we will assist a retransmission of a live, commented surgery open to all questions the participants may have. Additionally, we allocated a few slots of time when the participants will be able to network and re-energize.
This educational course is endorsed by the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Barcelona, the Official Association of Psychologists of Catalonia as well and the Institute of Neurosciences of the University of Barcelona. The course organizers and instructors have long-standing clinical and research experience in brain mapping. The invited lecturers are experts in their field (e.g. psychometrics) and will add a new, fresh vision to the established "know-how". Course participants receive official, university credits for their participation.
