On the occasion of the International Archives Day, on June 9, the area of E-administration and Records Office of the University of Barcelona is organizing a set of activities to show documents of special interest that are part of its rich documentary heritage. Among these, and as part of the conferences “Elías Rogent i Barcelona: arquitectura, patrimoni i restauració”, is the exhibition entitled “Building the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona: records, notes, inventories...”, which can be visited until June 9 at the room of the Historical Collection of the UB (sala d’usuaris de l’Arxiu Històric de la UB), in the Historical Building. The exhibition gathers documents that were stored in the Historical Collection, which contribute to fill the view of Elias Rogent professional career.
Also, the Arxiu Intermedi del Campus Centre is organizing the exhibition “L’Institut d’Arqueologia Prehistòrica: prospecció del fons” which can be visited in the hall of the Faculty of Geography and History; Arxiu Intermedi in Mundet Campus is in charge of the exhibition “Orígens. L’inici de les nostres disciplines” in the hall of Mundet Campus CRAI Library. Arxiu Intermedi in the Barcelona Knowledge Campus shows the exhibition “Maó a maó. 50 anys de l’edifici de l’antiga Facultat de Ciències Econòmiques i Empresarials. 1967-2017” in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Economics and Business; and Arxiu Intermedi of Physics and Chemistry has prepared the exhibition “Els ensenyaments de Física i Química a la Universitat de Barcelona” (in the hall of the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry). All these exhibitions can be visited during June within each center’s schedule.

On June 9, the world celebrates the International Archives Day to remember the day in which the International Council on Archives (ICA) was created under the aegis of UNESCO. The official date for the commemoration was approved in Vienna, in the annual meeting of the Executive Council of the ICA, in November 2007. The aim of this event is to highlight the essential traits of archives to guarantee an efficient, responsible and transparent management of archives, to protect citizen rights, ensure individual and collective memory, understand the past, document the present and prepare the future, in accordance to the Universal Declaration on Archives, approved in 2011 in Paris during the 36th UNESCO’s General Conference.

Exhibition in the Contemporary Municipal Collection (Arxiu Municipal Contemporari)

Arxiu Municipal Contemporari commemorates the 150th anniversary of Josep Puig i Cadafalch with the 13th exhibition of documents, Puig i Cadafalch, convertir Barcelona en la Brussel·les del migdia, commissioned by the lecturer Joan Molet i Petit, from the Department of History of Art of the University of Barcelona.  It aims to contribute to share the valuable documentary legacy left by Puig i Cadafalch in Barcelona regarding his activity as architect, urban planner and politician. The University of Barcelona is one of the entities that take part in the Year of Puig i Cadafalch.
