Information for the student – History of Science: Science, History and Society
Introduction
The master's degree in History of Science: Science, History and Society analyses the historical development of science, technology and medicine from the theoretical, material, social and institutional perspectives. It provides a unique view of the evolution of science, and promotes the development of historical research skills through knowledge of the main tools and schools of historical study and writing, and through the completion of a research project.
This 60-credit interuniversity (UAB-UB) master's degree is divided into modules of 15 credits. Students can choose one of the two specializations: research or professional.
The research specialization provides the basis for an academic career and doctoral studies in history of science or in-depth research of specific aspects of science, technology and medicine and their social and cultural implications in the past.
The professional specialization provides the foundations for a career in scientific communication, teaching, museology and scientific heritage management.
Lecturers on the master's degree course include the best specialists in the field of history of science from the UAB, the UB, the UPF, the UPC and the Milà i Fontanals Institution (part of the Spanish National Research Council), as well as prestigious visiting lecturers.
