Extracurriculars Internships
Extracurricular internships
Extracurricular internships are academic activities not included in the curriculum of a programme and which aim to promote the professional development and labour integration of students.
These activities are voluntary, do not imply any credit recognition and cannot be recognized as curricular internships.
In accordance with current regulations, extracurricular internships must be included in the European Diploma Supplement (DS) if the student completes a minimum of 200 hours.
The internships take place during the students’ education period and are formalized through educational cooperation agreements. They have a maximum duration of 750 hours per academic year which can, exceptionally, be extended up to 900 hours. An academic year starts in Semptember and ends in Semptember of the following year.
Important: Due to the new university law that came into force in January 2024, all students taking part in external internships will be registered in the Social Security. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to secretariafilosofia@ub.edu.

Requirements
- To be a student of the Master’s programme in Cognitive Science and Language, i.e., to be registered during the academic year in which the internship is to take place.
- Not to have any contractual relationship with the company or institution where the internship is to take place, except in duly justified and authorized cases. In such cases, neither schedules nor location of the internship may coincide with your employment contract.
- Not to have solicited the Cognitive Science and Language master’s degree title.
Inscription
To register, please contact the internship coordinator, Dr. José María Sánchez de León (j.sanchezdeleon@ub.edu) to arrange an interview.
In case you want to intern in a company/institution that has not signed an educational collaboration agreement with the Faculty, please contact the Secretaria d’Estudiants i Docència (Secretary’s Office for Students and Teaching), since a collaboration agreement with this company/institution may be established upon agreement by the internships coordination.
The inscription period is open for the entire academic year.
Formalization of the relation between the Faculty, the collaborating entity and the student
In order for an internship with a collaborating entity to take place, an agreement and a training plan should be formalised by the Faculty amb the company/institution.
The Secretary’s Office will contact you to sign the training project before the start of the internship.
