The master's is primarily addressed to holders of bachelor's degrees and pre-EHEA degrees Hispanic studies. It may also be of interest to students from other language programmes, as well as graduates in humanities, history, history of art, philosophy and communication sciences.
The master's degree coordinator and tutor, in conjunction with the Admissions Committee, will examine all applications and may accept students from other academic backgrounds who show a particular interest in the course content (for example, those with accredited professional experience in a related field). Candidates must demonstrate ability, knowledge, interest and curiosity for in-depth study of the Spanish language and Hispanic literature.

Admission requirements
In accordance with Article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/29 October 2007, students must hold one of the following qualifications to access university master's degree courses:
- An official Spanish degree.
- A degree issued by a higher education institution within the European Higher Education Area framework that authorizes the holder to access university master's degree courses in the country of issue.
- A qualification from outside the framework of the European Higher Education Area. In this case, the qualification should be recognized as equivalent to an official Spanish degree. If it is not recognized, the University of Barcelona shall verify that it corresponds to a level of education that is equivalent to official Spanish degrees and that it authorizes the holder to access university master's degree courses in the country of issue. Admission shall not, in any case, imply that prior qualifications have been recognized as equivalent to a Spanish master's degree and does not confer recognition for any purposes other than that of admission to the master's degree course.
Specific requirements
In accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007, access to the master's degree may only be granted to holders of a bachelor's degree or pre-EHEA degree issued by a Spanish or European university.
Qualifications different from those listed above will also be accepted, provided that their general learning objectives and skills profiles are similar.
Students must have an advanced level of Spanish (equivalent to level B2 or above). Students from non-Spanish speaking countries must provide proof of their level via a certificate, academic record or interview.
Students who must complete the module of bridging courses: Students with qualifications other than history, the humanities, languages and literature, linguistics or literary studies, as well as students whose mother tongue is not Spanish.
- Bachelor's degree/pre-EHEA degree in history, history of art, philosophy, romance studies, classics, Catalan, Spanish literature, literary studies, linguistics and humanities.
- Pre-EHEA degree in English, French, Galician, Portuguese, Hebrew studies, Semitic languages, literary theory and comparative literature.
- Bachelor's degree in English studies, modern language and literature or Arabic and Hebrew studies.
Qualifications different from those listed above will also be accepted, provided that their general learning objectives and skills profiles are similar.
