Failure to pay tuition or any of the fractions within the terms established by the University leads to the automatic temporary suspension of the enrollment rights without the need for prior intimidation by the University of Barcelona. The maximum duration of the temporary suspension is until the end of the academic year.
The temporary suspension of the student's rights is lifted when the student pays to the university, in cash and at a single time, the entire tuition fee that he or she has yet to pay, as well as a percentage of the total amount of the displeased receipt or receipts, excluding extra-academic services, in terms of expense for the management of non-payment.
For the 2012-13 academic year, the surcharge to be added to the amount of the receipt or receipts not satisfied is 5 % if the student pays the amount remaining at the university within two months of the end of the term to make the payment, with a new increase of 5 % for each month or fraction in which the receipt is kept pending, up to a maximum of 50%.
Unpaid surcharges will always be applied based on Financial enrolment rules of the University of Barcelona, approved by the Governing Council and the Social Council of the University of Barcelona for each academic year.
