Information for the student

The international practices are within the framework of the Erasmus+ Program. It is, therefore, an activity that combines international mobility and external practices (not including university studies). These internships are supervised by a professional from the organization and supervised by a professor from the Faculty of Philology and Communication.

International internships are aimed at undergraduate students (except for the Communication and Cultural Industries Degree) and master's degree students. They are voluntary and take place during the student's training period.

Students must follow the official deadlines for applying for the Erasmus+ Program, so they must start the whole process well in advance.

Carrying out international internships within the framework of the Erasmus+ Program allows the student to enjoy financial aid, if the requirements established in the program are met. This funding is for internships for a minimum of two months and a maximum of three months.

D'una banda, els requisits per accedir-hi es poden consultar a la pàgina web de mobilitat internacional de la Universitat de Barcelona: http://www.ub.edu/uri/estudiantsUB/erasmus.htm

The requirements include:

  1. Formalize the enrollment in the Faculty of Philology and Communication during the academic year in which the stay abroad will take place.
  2. Undergraduate students must have passed at least 90 credits of their degree.

On the other hand, internship offers may have specific requirements, generally in relation to the degree completed by the student and the necessary level of language (or languages).

Full information can be consulted on the international mobility website of the University of Barcelona: http://www.ub.edu/uri/estudiantsUB/erasmus.htm

The student can spend between two and twelve consecutive months and within the same academic year. The student can complete a maximum of 750 hours per academic year. Only in exceptional circumstances will the possibility of extending them up to a maximum of 900 hours be considered.

The Erasmus student is considered a full-time student, so he can carry out a maximum of 8 hours of practice per day.

The internships must be carried out within the period determined by "Erasmus+ internships" (first or second semester, full academic year or summer period).

The deadline for the current call is as follows:

REQUEST OF THE STUDENT
STAY OF PRACTICES

From October 15, 2024 to November 12, 2024

For first or second semester stays or the entire academic year

The tasks in which the student collaborates must complement their theoretical and practical training; therefore, they must be directly related to the studies you are taking.

At the end of the internship, the Secretary of the Faculty of Philology and Communication can issue a certificate attesting to the completion of the internship, if the student so requests.

In addition, once the internship period has ended, the student can request from the institution a certificate of completion of the internship that will serve as a reference letter for future jobs.

The student must have medical insurance throughout his/her international internship. The University of Barcelona takes out accident, repatriation and civil liability insurance that covers the stay of the selected students.

The student cannot have any employment relationship with the institution where the internship takes place.

The internship of the Erasmus+ program does not have automatic recognition of credits. However, the student can request recognition of credits (6 ECTS, at most) as long as he completes a minimum of 180 hours of practice.

The issuance of the student's academic degree during the internship period will entail the termination of the training project and, therefore, the interruption of the internship stay.

Students interested in carrying out Erasmus+ international internships should consult the international mobility website of the Faculty of Philology and Communication and the mobility portal of the University of Barcelona. These pages publish information on the requirements and deadlines for applying for internships.

Available places will be published on the international mobility website of the Faculty of Philology and Communication (if there is an offer). When the application is made, a request for a maximum of three internship places must be submitted in order of priority. Alternatively, the student can search for an internship and propose the acceptance, by an entity, of their candidacy (Intership confirmation). The approval of this proposal will be subject to the evaluation of the academic coordination of external practices of the Faculty of Philology and Communication.

From this point, the Office of International Relations will process the request and facilitate the relationship between students and entities in order to achieve the best service for both parties. For any questions, you can contact the International Relations Office, located on the ground floor of the Historical Building, in the Letters Patio, Anna Poch's office. Consultations work by appointment. Visiting hours by appointment are: Tuesday and Wednesday: 10:00 – 1:30 PM  Make an appointment
