Information for the student
Requirements to access extracurricular external practices
- The student must be enrolled in the Faculty of Philology and Communication in the course for which the internship is chosen.
- In the case of undergraduate degrees, the student must have passed at least 50% of the credits (120 credits).
-
Have the Social Security Number (NUSS) or Affiliation Number. Access the UB external practice management application (GIPE) and enter the NUSS in the GIPE, in the "My CV" section.
Characteristics of external extracurricular practices
- Extracurricular internships can be conceived as a “bag” of a total of 1,500 hours that students, once they have obtained 120 credits of their degree, can begin to carry out throughout their university life. The distribution of these hours of non-curricular practices is not previously established. Once the 1,500 hous were exhausted, students could no longer do more, even if they were still enrolled in more courses.
- The student can carry out a maximum of 5 hours of practice per day (equivalent to 25 hours per week), which can be extended to 8 hours per day in non-teaching periods.
- The student will receive remuneration in the form of a scholarship or study aid.
- The internships must be carried out within the academic period to which the enrollment entitles, which includes from September 15 to September 14 of the following year.
- The tasks in which the student collaborates must complement their theoretical and practical training; therefore, they must be directly related to the studies you are taking.
- The student must be registered and discharged from the Social Security by the entity, which must settle the contributions before the Treasury of the Social Security, according to current legislation.
- At the end of the internship, the student must hand in a short internship report, which will be evaluated by their academic tutor. This assessment, together with the final report of the institution tutor, will serve to obtain academic recognition of these practices in the European Degree Supplement (SET).
- In addition, once the internship period has ended, the student can request from the institution a certificate of completion of the internship that will serve as a reference letter for future jobs.
Incompatibilities
- The practice schedule cannot interfere with the student's class schedule.
- The student cannot have any employment relationship with the institution where the internship takes place.
- External extracurricular practices do not involve recognition of credits.
- The issuance of the student's academic degree during the internship period will entail the termination of the training project and, therefore, the interruption of the internship stay.
