The AQU certifies that the SAIQU is fully deployed at the Faculty and ensures the quality of the university degree and master’s courses taught at the center

The Faculty of Philology and Communication has obtained certification from the Agency for Quality of the University System of Catalonia (AQU) for the internal quality assurance system (SAIQU). With this favorable report, the AQU thus certifies that the SAIQU is fully deployed at the Faculty and that it is adequate to ensure the quality of the university degree and master's courses taught at the center, as well as its management processes. Of the six dimensions that are analyzed to grant certification, four received the highest possible rating, so this is one of the best results achieved so far at the University of Barcelona.

The favorable report issued by the External Evaluation Committee highlights as good practices of the center aspects such as the deployment of the Business Intelligence tool to automate data management, the use of innovative guidance and support methodologies for students during the studies in which current students and graduates participate, the incorporation of a technical profile in communication within SAIQU and, finally, visibility on social networks.

A one-year evaluation process

The evaluation of the request for certification of the center's internal quality assurance system takes into account the external evaluation carried out collegiately by a committee of external experts.

To achieve the SAIQU certification, an evaluation committee appointed by the AQU analyzed the documentation provided by the Faculty, such as the master plan, the SAIQU quality and process manual, and a whole set of related indicators and evidence with the implementation of specific quality processes. The committee also held meetings with the heads of the center and with various agents of the Faculty, from academic positions to teaching staff, PTGAS, students and graduates. Specifically, a preliminary visit by the committee was carried out in November 2023 and a final visit to the center in February 2024, until the final report was issued this October, following the allegations presented by the center in first report sent before summer.

With this certification, the Faculty of Philology and Communication will be able to access institutional accreditation, which will allow the old evaluation processes individualized by degrees to be collected in a Center Management Report (IGC) that will be drawn up annually.

The certification process is organized and monitored by the UB's Policy and Quality Agency. The resulting evaluation has been carried out in accordance with the Guide for the certification of the implementation of internal quality assurance systems of AQU Catalunya.
