Consequences of non-payment of tuition
ECONOMIC REGULATION OF TUITION UB.- Year 2018-19
Approved by Economic Commission of Governing Council of 3 July 2018
Article 32. Unpaid enrolment results
- Failure to pay tuition fees or any of the fractions within the deadlines established by the UB leads to the automatic temporary suspension of the student's rights without the need for prior intimidation by the UB. The maximum duration of the temporary suspension is until the end of the academic year.
- The temporary suspension of the student's rights is lifted when the student pays the full amount of the tuition fee that he or she has yet to pay, plus a surcharge on the total amount of the non-compliant receipt or receipts, excluding services, in the form of expense for the non-payment management. This surcharge is 5 % if the student makes payment within a two-month deadline from the end of the term to make the initial payment of the receipt, with an increase of 5 % for each month or fraction in which the receipt is pending, up to a maximum of 50 %. For the purposes of applying the increase in this surcharge, the month of August is inactive.
- Any modification or annulment of registrations is resolved as long as you are aware of the payment of receipts.
- In any case, once the academic year has ended without the student having paid, the UB automatically cancels the enrolment without the right to a refund. The annulment of the enrolment implies the complete nullity of all the rights that this enrolment may have produced and, especially, of the qualifications that the student has obtained.
- The enrolment payment made after the academic year only activates the subjects incorporated in the act prior to the annulment of the enrolment. However, in exceptional and duly justified cases, the vice-rectorate of Academic ordination can accept that the payment of previous courses activates all overridden subjects.
- Regardless of the provisions of the previous paragraphs, the UB, in accordance with the decree of prices, requires the payment of outstanding amounts by enrolment in any of its official teachings, academic year or centre, and corresponding interests, if applicable, as a prior condition of enrolment or issuing of titles, certificates or any other academic document. In case pending amounts in tuitions from previous and simultaneous academic courses correspond to enrolments from the graduate in Private Investigation, the UB will require payment of the pending amounts only within the same education of its own.
IMPORTANT: It is the responsibility of the student to attend to the various payments he or she has pending, without any prior requirements.
