#CICEvent | Joan Marimón’s masterclass

Last December the 5th, director and screenwriter Joan Marimón held a conference on some topics discussed in his book “El montaje cinematográfico. Del guion a la pantalla”. The masterclass took place within the framework of the subject “Audiovisual Communication”, taught by Dr. Juanjo Caballero.

The talk developed some of his work’s main points, which are also central to the subject. Specifically, Marimón delved deep into the capital, yet often underestimated, role of editing in the cinematographic product. He insists that editing is not just a mere step in the process of audiovisual production, but one of its main narrative actors. In fact, he argues that the editor’s tasks start with the writing of the script.

This has been the fourth year Joan Marimón has offered his knowledge to the CIC degree’s students. It is worth highlighting his and his work’s influence on the subject.
