Objectives and competences
Objectives
- Provide a solid training in theoretical and practical aspects of literature from a universal and comparative perspective.
- Develop competences and skills related to literary theory and criticism, such as a reflective and speculative attitude, the acquisition of methods of literary analysis and the use of genre theory, hermeneutics, the poetic-rhetorical tradition and the methodology of comparative literature.
- Provide the basis for literary research.

General competences
- Communicative ability (the ability to understand and express oneself orally and in writing in Catalan, Spanish, and a third language, mastering specialised language/the ability to search, use, disseminate, and integrate information).
- Mastery of new information and communication technologies and information management skills.

- Acquire knowledge of the various methods of literature analysis and their underlying theoretical foundations.
- Demonstrate an acquired understanding of genre theory, its classical foundations, and its subsequent contributions.
- Identify research problems and topics and evaluate their relevance in the field of Literary Theory and Comparative Literature.
- Demonstrate the ability to interrelate various aspects of literary theory and comparative literature.
