Once the doctoral thesis has been drawn up, the doctoral student must apply to the center's doctoral committee for authorization to submit it.
Requirement: the research plan must have obtained two consecutive positive annual monitoring and evaluation reports.
HOW?: by the procedure manager; (manual) must be accompanied by the following documents (all documents with digital signature):
a) Document of the activities that the doctoral student has carried out.
b) A copy of the doctoral thesis in electronic format. The encrypted thesis (if applicable)
c) The file with the data on the thesis necessary to publish it in the different repositories (the institutional one of the University of Barcelona, the TDX and the TESEO database), according to the standardized model.
d) The report of the directors and tutor on the authorization to deposit the thesis (optional). If it is not presented, it will be the Doctorate Committee of the Faculty who will ask them to do so.
The non-submission of the copy of the doctoral thesis in electronic format cannot be subject to amendment, so that the failure to present this document determines the rejection of the application, subject to a resolution issued to that effect.
Format to have the thesis submitted:
The cover page or the first page must contain, at least, the following information: the corporate image of the UB, name of the doctoral program, title of the thesis, name and surname of the doctoral student, name and surname of the/ s thesis director/s and the tutor.
Doctoral theses can be presented in any of the official languages of Catalonia or in English.
They can also be presented in the languages established by the doctoral program. the commission
academic department of the program can authorize the preparation of doctoral theses in any language of scientific use, technical or artistic different from those established in the program.
If the doctoral theses are not written in Catalan, a summary in that language must always be included, as well as the title and keywords in the corresponding section.
DOCUMENT MODELS
Summary of the doctoral thesis with a maximum recommended length of 600 words, in the same language in which it was written.
Extract in English with a maximum recommended length of 350 words. If the thesis is written in English, this summary can be done in another language (Catalan, Spanish, etc.)

Authorization document for publication in the UB repository and in the TDR thesis repository, completed in clear handwriting or with a computer and signed.
The electronic file opened in an institutional repository has been mandatory since February 11, 2012, in application of article 14 of Royal Decree 99/2011. For this reason, all theses read at the University of Barcelona from that date are archived in the institutional repository, UB Digital Repository - Doctoral Theses, and in the cooperative TDR thesis repository.
Term to resolve the deposit and defense authorization
The Doctoral Committee of the Center will have a maximum of 60 working days, counting from the day after the date of submission of the application (75 if the doctoral student is asked to improve the thesis). Once approved for its defense, it will not admit any type of modification.
