Medicine and Traslational Research
The Doctorate in “Medicine and Traslational Research” Programme is the educational response of the University of Barcelona related to advanced formation of the PhD students in clinical and biomedical investigation. This program includes the elaboration and presentation of the Doctoral Thesis consisting in a scientific study with the results of original research.
The aim of this new study of the structure of the doctorate, which is based on the Royal Decree 1393/2007 and is within the framework of the reforms related to the third cycle of teaching, is directed to the creation of a unique European Space of Higher Education (ESHE).
The Doctorate in “Medicine and Traslational Research” Programme is characterized by the inclusion of interdisciplinary elements which are innovative and, especially, of quality research. This programme presents numerous lines of clinical and basic investigation involving prestigious scientists from different areas of knowledge from university of Barcelona and research institutions participating in the programme such as IDIBAPS (Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi I Sunyer), IDIBELL (Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica de Bellvitge) and ISGlobal (Institut de Salut Global de Barcelona)
Likewise, this Programme provides an international setting created by the presence of graduate and postdoctorate students from different countries and by the extensive collaboration among the groups of investigation involved in the Programme. For this reason many students have the opportunity of carrying out stages in prestigious laboratories abroad to improve their formation and training in new methodologies.
