Cicle Continuat de Conferències de la FMiCS: XBP1S-PINK1 functional interplay unravels molecular links between reticular stress and mitophagy: Implication for Parkinson's Disease

Notícia | 18-06-2024

El proper 18 de juny a les 12 h l'Aula Magna del Campus Clínic acollirà un nou seminari del Cicle Continuat de Conferències de la Facultat de Medicina i Ciències de la Salut.

El seminari titulat "XBP1S-PINK1 functional interplay unravels molecular links between reticular stress and mitophagy: Implication for Parkinson's Disease” i serà a càrrec del Dr. Frédéric Checler, Head of the laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biology in Normal and Pathological Cerebral Aging (IPMC, Sophia-Antipolis), els encarregats d'aquesta xerrada son el Dr. Albert Giralt i la Dra. Cristina Malagelada.

Parkinson’s disease (PD)-affected brains show endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and mitophagic dysfunctions. How these processes are altered and whether they are directly linked remain a matter of questions. XBP1 is a transcription factor activated upon ER stress after unconventional splicing by the nuclease IREa thereby yielding XBP1S. PINK1 is a kinase considered as the sensor of mitochondrial physiology and a master gatekeeper of mitophagy process. We will describe a functional forward loop between XBP1S and PINK1 governing a molecular link between ER-stress and mitophagy that could be disrupted in PD condition.
