Studies
The Faculty of Law has a broad and varied course offering that includes eight bachelor’s degrees (seven official degrees and one UB-specific degree). Of the seven official bachelor’s degrees, two are offered jointly with other public institutions: the Open University of Catalonia and the Institute of Public Security of Catalonia. The offering of bachelor’s degree courses also includes three dual pathways or degrees: Law and Business Administration and Management (offered together with the Faculty of Economics and Business); Law and Public Management and Administration; and Law and Political and Administrative Sciences. Postgraduate programmes include eight university master’s degrees and over 60 UB-specific postgraduate courses, comprising 15 UB-specific master’s degrees, 20 specialization and postgraduate diploma courses, 14 expert courses, two higher university courses, and 12 university extension courses. The offering is rounded out with a doctoral programme with various research areas.
The Faculty of Law also offers two dual degree programmes in Law jointly with American universities (Nova Southeastern University in Florida and the University of Puerto Rico). These programmes allow students enrolled in the Faculty to spend a period of study (one or two years) at one of these US universities. Upon completing the programme, they are awarded a degree in Law from the University of Barcelona and a Juris Doctor degree from the American partner university. The latter qualification entitles the holder to take the bar examination of the American Bar Association, which must be passed to practice law in the United States. A third dual degree agreement is currently being negotiated with the Washington College of Law of American University..
