Research institutes
TransJus is a research institute at the University of Barcelona based within the Faculty of Law. It brings together more than 60 scholars and academic researchers from all areas of Law, Criminology, Public Management and Administration, Labour Relations, and Political Science, in collaboration with society, in a cross-disciplinary space designed to promote synergies and problem-solving through seminars, congresses, workshops, debates, and publications.

Observatories
The Bioethics and Law Observatory (OBD) is a University of Barcelona research centre that performs its activities with a cross-disciplinary and secular perspective. Its members understand that bioethics, and specifically discussing the ethical, legal and social implications of biotechnology and biomedicine, requires a plural approach to the issues as well as solid scientific knowledge on the specific issues under consideration. The objective is to raise arguments and proposals that support free and informed decision-making and that contribute to the construction of a more transparent and democratic society.

The Observatory of the Penal System and Human Rights (OSPDH) at the University of Barcelona comprises teachers, students, graduates, postgraduates and professionals involved in research, teaching, and observation of the institutions of the criminal justice system, whose work contributes to extending the culture of human rights, defending the rights and liberties of people, and strengthening the principles and values of the democratic constitutional state.

The Barcelona Institute of Public Law (IDP) is a university centre for analysis and research specializing in different fields of Public Law, especially Constitutional, Administrative and European Union Law, as well as other related disciplines.
