Andreu Olesti Rayo

Andreu Olesti Rayo is a professor of Public International Law. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in Law as well as a bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences. He is a member of a teaching innovation group in the area of Public International Law and International Relations, and has played a host of leadership and management roles, including secretary of the department of International Law and Economics, 2001-2004; director of studies in the former Spanish undergraduate programme in Law, 2004-2008; deputy director of the Observatory of Public Law at the University of Barcelona, 2008-2009, which he then served as director, 2010-2016; and director of the department of Criminal Law and Criminal Science, and Public International Law and International Relations in the Faculty of Law, 2021-2023.

In the area of research, Andreu Olesti Rayo pursues various lines of investigation, most prominently in relation to European Union Law, including the EU’s foreign relations, economic and monetary union, and the free circulation of people and EU immigration policy. Since 2017, he has served as coordinator of the DIDUE consolidated research group, which focuses on international law and EU law.

He has obtained 5 research premiums from CNEAI and 6 teaching premiums from the Government of Catalonia.
