Information for the student – Management of Mountainous Areas
Introduction
The university master's degree in Management of Mountainous Areas is designed to train experts in the sustainable management of mountains who can: contribute innovative, viable solutions within legislative frameworks and current policies; lead and work in interdisciplinary teams in public organizations and entities; and generate entrepreneurial actions locally and globally.
The master's degree is based on a comprehensive approach to mountains and provides vocational training in various areas:
The study of physical aspects and environmental limitations is an important aspect of the master's degree, but there is also a strong focus on economic and social dynamics. The master's degree addresses both knowledge of characteristic environmental and socioeconomic aspects of the mountain, and the management and regulation of these areas.
Due to the specific features of mountains in the Mediterranean area, the master's degree covers characteristics and situations that are not only typical of Alpine mountain, but also dry mountain, mid-altitude mountains, and low mountains.
The master's degree is taught by professionals from the five departments of Geography in Catalan universities who are specialists in the subjects. The teaching staff provides all kinds of training materials for the students.
