Information for the student – Fine Arts (extinction)
Objectives and competences
Objectives
The objectives for the Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts are closely linked to the needs and demands of present-day society. As well as developing professional skills, the emphasis is on training students to relate personal skills, the needs of the environment, and the sensitive structuring of social harmony through critical attitudes underpinned by a sense of meaning. We believe the ultimate aim of the course is to train creators who are proficient in the visual, plastic and allied arts, and who have a strong background in art and visual culture. The overall goal is to develop the ability of students to offer creative and innovative solutions to new realities that emerge in 21st-century societies.
The general objectives for the degree are:
- To work with the tools required for students to integrate their knowledge in creative and experimental processes – both within and across disciplines – so they are able to engage in artistic and cultural practices in a range of formats and settings.
- To enable students to develop the skills required to undertake professional artistic or creative practices that allow them to engage with contemporary reality and receive full social recognition for their skills.
- To ensure that students have the knowledge and skills required to undertake further study at postgraduate level, in Spain or elsewhere in Europe.
- To facilitate the development of a commitment to fundamental rights and gender equality, the principles of equal opportunity and universal access for people with disabilities, the values that underpin a culture of peace, and democratic values.
