Chairs
Energy sustainability
The Energy Sustainability Chair aims to promote research into the economic, environmental and social factors associated with the production, supply and use of the energy needed to ensure social development and welfare.
The Chair is overseen by the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) and was created in 2012 through an agreement between the University of Barcelona and the Foundation for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (FUNSEAM).
Urban economy
This Chair focuses on studying the role of cities in generating prosperity. It works in several areas, researching major issues such as the factors behind city growth and the social relationships that are forged in urban areas, the role of agglomeration economies in urban productivity and growth projections, the operation of local labour markets and the design of effective public policies in response to issues affecting cities.
The Chair is an initiative of the University of Barcelona and the Barcelona City Council, launched in 2018.
